Penn Theater - Plymouth, Michigan

Penn Theatre
Plymouth, Michigan
______________________

Penniman Ave. in downtown Plymouth, Michigan glows under the lights of the Penn Theatre marquee which was restored in 2009.

The historic 405 seat, single-screen theatre is managed by the Friends of the Penn, and features current second run movies, independent and classic films, school field trips, and occasional live musical performances.

Since 2006 Friends of the Penn have completed these restoration projects:
  • New Boiler (December, 2006)
  • Stage Lighting (August, 2007)
  • New Electrical Service (August, 2007)
  • New Concession Area & Popcorn Kitchen (December, 2007)
  • New Air Handler (February, 2008)
  • Roofing Replacement (September, 2008)
  • Exterior Painting (October, 2008)
  • New Marquee (June, 2009)
  • DTS - Digital Theatre Sound Upgrade (July, 2009)
  • Mural Transformation (September, 2010)
  • Front Entry Doors (October, 2010)
  • Complete Auditorium Renovation (July, 2011)
The 2012 Penn project is conversion to digital projection (like the rest of the motion picture industry.)  The 35mm projectors will be kept for classic films, but a digital projector is needed to maintain a normal weekend schedule. This project is expected to cost approximately $80,000. Donations are actively sought and gladly accepted.

The Great Train Expo opens today at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi, Michigan. This is a national, traveling train show serving more states than any other show. It features operating model railroads, 200-500 tables of train dealers, collectors, hands-on exhibits, demonstrations, workshops, and much more!

I'll be exhibiting my railroad photos in a booth with my good friend and fellow artist Paul Adams who will have his wonderful railroad art.

It is a great way to spend the day with the family whether you’re a rail fan, avid modeler, or looking for quality railroad art for your layout room, den, or office
